Bruce Chung
at PYC

November 8th - 13th

Bruce is (thankfully!) a frequent guest teacher here at PYC. He has taught workshops, regular classes, part of our first ever 200-hr YTT, and more! We love whenever he’s here with us, and we get the feeling he likes being here too (or else he wouldn’t come back, eh?)

Bruce’s upcoming visit will include some unique classes at our studio such as a “Minnie Vinnie” class (mini vinyasa sequences), “Power Hour”, Hatha yoga, and a special “Mandala” masterclass. Bruce is an excellent and extremely knowledgeable teacher, and he loves to share the world of mobility versus flexibility to all of us yogis. If you haven’t taken one of his classes, it’s truly a unique and inspiring experience.

He starts teaching on November 8th at 5:30pm, and you can sign up for all of his classes on MindBody.

Mandala Masterclass Schedule, Pricing & Info:

  • Wednesday 6:45pm – 8:45pm (13.11.19)

  • 350Kč

For most yoga practitioners, stepping forward and backward is the standard way to move. If you’ve been on your mat dozens of times, you can even find yourself moving on auto-pilot simply going through the motions. The mandala flow explores moving in all directions, at times, having you flow 360 degrees on the mat. It is a practice that encourages you to drop all expectations, with the realization that doing the same thing differently can be as insightful as it is fun.

This is a two-hour practice that will work the external rotators of the hip, while moving 180 to 360 degrees on the mat. It will be a dynamic practice with a lot of core focus and will include an exploration of inversions and arm balances. Open to practitioners of all levels.

What will you learn?

Dharma Sadhana Master Practice
Friday 18.00-20.00

This practice is an introduction to the Dharma Yoga weekend which will encompass the entire yoga practice according to the disciples of the legendary Master Sri Dharma Mittra. A challenging and physically absorbing Shiva Vinyasa Namaskar series created by Sri Dharma Mittra reintegrates the flow of prana through the spinal column and emanates deep into all areas of the physical, metabolic, intuitive, and bliss bodies. It promotes harmony within all these layers so a concentrated state of radiant health is achieved. The highest crowning meditative asanas, pranayama (breathing techniques), and yoga nidra (psychic sleep), which are embedded in the deep roots of Dharma Mittra's teachings, are imparted into the student.

Dharma Master Sadhana -
Arm Balances
Saturday 12.00-14.00

Arm balance poses help us feel like we’re floating lightly and gracefully and at the same time reflect our strength and fearlessness. Strength, flexibility, concentration, balance and perseverance are the keys to performing these challenging asana. Arm balance positions are some of the most challenging, a great addition to any yoga routine and can greatly improve stability and sharpen concentration. The key to perfect balance is more about alignment and concentration than strength. In this master class we will explore some of the most famous arm balancing poses and explain in detail the steps towards advancement in this practice through anatomy, proper alignment in position and the wisdom of performing.

PRANA, PRANAYAMA & YOGA NIDRA through Pancha Kosha – Journey to the self
Saturday 14.30-16.30

The focus of this program is to grow beyond the asana practice through the pranayama and pratyahara.

Pranayama is the work with the vital life energy (prana) through the breath, purification of the body, mind and nadi, prana science, breath science and wonderful practical knowledge that when applied makes deep impressions in our daily life. By doing pranayama, we regularly maintain the internal hygiene of the physical body because about 70% of unwanted elements are ejected through the breath, as well as mental hygiene since breathing directly affects our nervous system, purifies it from harmful thoughts, emotions and keeps the ongoing balance. Prana is the link between body and mind, so we work interactively with it (soothing the breath also calms the mind). Great yogis also say that all foods, vitamins and minerals are found in the breath and pranayama.
In this lesson, we awaken the inner flows of vital life energy (prana) through the techniques of pranayama, kriya, bandha and mudra. The techniques taught are traditional Hatha yoga, Kriya and Kundalini yoga practices. They have been passed down for centuries, personally from teacher to student. They come from the teaching line of Sri Dharma Mittra and his guru Sri Swami Kailashananda (Yogi Gupta) of the Himalayan Yogi.

Pancha-kosha Yoga nidra relaxation through the five layers of the soul
Sandra Petra will guide you through the magical journey of the 5 layers of the soul called Pancha Kosha (physical body, prana body, mind body, intelligence body and bliss body) through which we come to the center of our being - our "atma" soul. Yoga nidra calms the stirring waves of mind and emotions and turns us to look inward, to our soul. It can serve the purpose of relaxation of the physical body and mind, regeneration, self-healing, change of habits and spiritual experience. Relaxation time restores all of our systems that become healthy and balanced. It supports our body’s return to its natural healing abilities.

Dharma Master Sadhana – Art of Inversions
Sunday 12.00-14.00

Inversions are one of the most respected yoga postures, both because of their challenging nature and their general health benefits. The gradual journey through the world of inversions, various variations and preparations takes years and it is important to allow ourselves this gradual progress and to have enough will, perseverance and regular practice. The purpose of yoga is not stay upside down, but any person who regularly practices asanas will naturally progress and reach the point where inversions come into play. Yoga inversions bring to light our true strength and confidence in ourselves. They show us how much we are actually connected within ourselves, movement, breath and concentration. Solar plexus (Manipura chakra) is the center from which all physical strength, body movements, power and expansion originates. It is necessary to restore confidence in the body and strength of the mind, and to learn to use that center to stand carelessly in inversions. They teach us patience, extra effort (tapas), humility and surrender.

In this master class we will warm up through Shiva Namaskar Vinyasa as preparation for inversions and balance strengthening on the hands, continue through small tips for standing on the head (sirshasana), standing on elbows (pincha mayurasaya) and standing on hands (urdhva mukha vrkshasana) through several preparations and variations with anatomical view, mental preparation and visualization. Clarity in this will slowly guide us through the steps to proper alignment in position, guide you how to maintain position and breathe in peace and stability, and inspire us to continue our practice.

A guided deep healing relaxation awaits you at the end of each master class.

This immersion is appropriate for both beginners to advanced students.
